Engagement Sneak Peek

I'm sure most of you have heard already, but just in case.............

I received an email yesterday from our photographer that our engagement pictures were done!! I called Colton before looking at them and he told me I had to wait and look at them with him........Geez fine. Super antsy all day I just couldn't resist looking at the few pictures the photographer had posted on her blog. So to share I have pasted the link below for you all to get a sneak-peek too :)

We have the link to all the photos but I figure will share that with a select few. I should be receiving a disk though shortly and then I'll post some more photos.

Now that our pictures are done. All I have to do is order the Save-the-Dates. So start checking your mail boxes in a few weeks for a special little surprise.

Lovers Holiday

I hope all you ladies out there (and boys too; I guess) were spoiled a little this year. I had my after school program on Tuesday so it was perfect for Colton to come home and whip up a surprise for me :) I came home to the smells of my #1 favorite meal; chicken fried steak, mash potatoes, and cream gravy. Some might say this is a "mans meal" but I don't care my mouth waters every time I see it on the menu; breakfast or dinner!!

Thanks babe for the new orchid (one of our traditions) and a super good meal.
love you!

Also I had forgot about this super cute valentines idea for boys. I found it one day browsing through the "next blog" button. Sometimes when I'm bored I just click on this button to view other peopels blogs. Its never the same blog, some are weird, some are funny, and some have some good ides.

I know I only have one nephew but this can be for girls too cause who doesn't like zippy there cars around the floor or table :) Tiff maybe you can use this idea for Payton next year!!

Valentines for a Car Lover

I saw this really fantastic idea for vehicle valentines over at Family Fun. Knowing that I have a car fanatic, I decided they were perfect.

Here's how I set everything up during the now-sporadic nap time.

I drew a "Go" line and a "Stop" line. I figured that a few traffic signals would help slow down the cars and keep them from racing their paint covered wheels right onto my dining room table. Of course, I still took precautionary measures and covered a large area with butcher paper.

For the cards, I used oversized index cards that I already had and folded them in half. For the paint, I again went with what I had and grabbed a bottle of dark brown acrylic crafting paint.

When Linus awoke, he was ready to dive (or should I say drive) right in

Once they dried (about one Bob the Builder episode later), I grabbed a red marker and added the text.

Some of the phrases we used:
  • You're a "wheely" good friend.
  • I "wheely" love you.
  • You're a "wheely" great teacher.
  • "Wheel" you be my Valentine?
A few days later, after he had signed them all (and we'd mailed the family ones), we journeyed over to Foster's Market to pick up the car chocolates

Linus absolutely LOVES these chocolates, admiring them every time we are there.
The chocolate cars are attached with some double-sided, foam tape tabs. I did that step on my own, although it was simple enough Linus could have helped (if it hadn't been past bedtime.)

I gotta say, I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out. They clearly represent Linus's interests, have zero commercialization, and definitely required his participation. Plus, making our own saved having to drag Linus into Target risking the possible temper fit as we hurried past the toy section.

A Little Funny Something

So I've started helping out as a volunteer with 4H doing after school programs. On Mondays I help teach cooking classes in Kalama and Tuesdays I've been assisting this "dude" teach nutrition. Tuesdays is pretty comical :) Since my first two experiences weren't good (example: when one kid said the fruit he was holding up was a tangerine, he said "nope". The next kid said it was an orange, he said "yes". I had to speak up because yes it was a tangerine; he's response was "guess you learn something new everyday. I thought it was a baby orange") YES this really happened I couldn't make something this hilarious up.

Anyway I was asked if I wanted to help out with a new after school sewing program. I thought it would be fun, but I wasn't sure if I should be helping kids sew when I don't even know how to thread my own sewing machine. So I signed up for an ADULTS beginner sewing class. It started last Tuesday and here's the results of my first project..........

A basket liner. everyone needs to know how to do these :)

I've been pretty stoked about my accomplishment as this is a pretty big deal for me. No class this week, but next Tuesday we're making pajama pants!

Well here's some ants for your pants................ we had our ENGAGEMENT session last Saturday!!! So some funny, silly, lovey-dovey pictures are being edited as we speak :)

mini Shoot!

Two weeks ago Libby and the girls were dropped off at our house for a girls day. Since Brian does a lot of work near our house the girls came up with him and though it was pretty cold it was really sunny. On there way how we all headed down to Portland (they had errands and we wanted to go to the remodeling show). We had lunch together and then a mini photo shoot :) We've been waiting for our schedule to coordinate with the photographer but at the same time wanting to send out our save-the-dates. So Libby brought her fancy camera and took a few photos for us. Here's a little preview.........

Trying to get Colton to smile!
 much better

After only a few photos our lips were dry and we both had cotton mouth. I don't know how we'll hold up for the real thing! Thanks Lib for the photos

Last weekend we headed for Sweet Home to celebrate Colton's birthday. We met with his family for dinner in Albany Friday night, then while he had a "mans day" I headed to coburg with my sisters to try on a few dresses. Here's just a little peek of what I might look like. CRAZY!!!
After dress shopping I headed back to Sweet Home and met up with the boys. I wonder what kind of trouble 2 girls will find 6 boys into?
Super pretty on the hill
 2 dudes + 10 boxes shotgun shells + 4 cooleys = one crazy time
As the boys would say "Let it Rrraaain"
I even got into the action. Am I Cooley yet?

Went from trying on wedding dresses to shooting guns.........  I think I'm getting closer to a Cooley!
